Dave Fako
President
Fako & Associates, Inc.
The
ancient Carthaginian General Hannibal once said, "We will either find a
way or make one." Saul Alinsky, the great community organizer,
found that philosophy so compelling that he quoted the General in his
famous book, Rules for Radicals. It is with this same spirit and
philosophy that Dave Fako approaches all challenges in his professional
and personal life.
Dave
offers his clients a wide range of experiences and skills, a
vigorous competitive drive and a work ethic that is hard to
match. Dave has been active in government and politics since the
mid-1980's and has been professionally organizing and developing
strategies for political campaigns, public policy organizations and
private sector clients for fifteen years.
Dave
has worked on over 250 political campaigns including statewide,
congressional, state legislative, municipal and referendum elections
and has advised numerous public policy organizations and
corporations. Three fourths of the races Dave has advised have
won, including many Democratic victories in GOP turf during the
Republican dominated 2002 and 2004 elections.
Dave
got his start in campaigns at Northern Illinois University (NIU)
working as a university organizer with the late U.S. Senator Paul
Simon's 1988 presidential campaign.
After
graduating from NIU in 1988 with a Bachelor's Degree in
Organizational/Corporate Communications, Dave worked as the
Legislative/Political Director for the National Association of Letter
Carriers (NALC) Branch 825, where he lobbied U.S. Senators and
Congressman on behalf of the NALC and developed the Golden Key Club, an
innovative fundraising program for the Committee on Letter Carrier
Political Education (COLCPE), which serves as a model for NALC branches
nationwide.
Dave
joined Illinois House Speaker Michael J. Madigan's staff in
1992. He developed legislative and political agendas, coordinated
media relations for state legislators and managed the Speaker's
District office. Dave managed numerous campaigns and coordinated
polling, strategic planning, candidate recruitment, message
development, targeting, and staff and candidate training for the
Speaker's political operation. In 1997, Dave was named Special
Assistant to the Speaker, where he managed the communications division
of the Speaker's staff.
Dave
formed Fako & Associates, Inc. in 1998. The firm is
based in suburban Chicago. Dave is an active athlete who competes
in Triathlons and running events. Dave spends much of his free
time hiking, backpacking, biking and paddling through America's many
wilderness areas, parks and natural wonders.
